1. Capture: press ⌥⌘4 and drag across part of the screen. The first time, macOS asks for Screen Recording permission: allow it in System Settings › Privacy & Security › Screen & System Audio Recording, then reopen Spindrift.
2. Mark it up: use the tools on the card's edge: arrow (A), caption (T), box (R), pen (P), highlight (H), redact (X), crop (C), select (V).
3. Talk: press Talk and describe what you see. Marks you draw while talking are numbered to match your words.
4. Send, copy or drag: Send posts to your destination; ⌘C copies the image; or drag the "Drag image + note" chip into any app.

No. Capturing, marking up, talking, copying and dragging work without one. To post to Linear, GitHub, GitLab or Slack, connect your own account with that service in Settings › Destinations.

On your Mac, in Studio (Spindrift › Show Spindrift). Search by title or note. Nothing is uploaded until you send it.

Live transcription needs macOS 26 and a language Apple's on-device speech supports. Choose the language from the menu beside Talk; if it needs a one-time speech download, Spindrift offers it there. Recording audio and typing work on macOS 14 and later.

No. The card keeps the send and its reason. If the service may already have received it, Send becomes Check Delivery, which looks first and never posts twice.

The next send stops before uploading and offers Reconnect and Send. Signing in again sends the capture.

Press C, drag a box, then press Return. Choose crop again to adjust the box; Esc puts back the crop you started with.

Delete captures in Studio, disconnect accounts in Settings › Accounts, then delete the app. The privacy policy lists what Spindrift keeps and where.
